Practical guides, analysis, and best practices to master your cloud costs on 3DS Outscale.
About these articles
Why we write this
The Outscale ecosystem doesn't have a lot of accessible content. Most of what exists is reference-style — written by Outscale's docs team, useful for "what does this API do," rarely useful for "here's how to think about your bill." That's the gap.
Each article here started as a customer conversation. "Why are reserved instances less interesting on Outscale than they are on AWS?" became a breakdown of the reserved-vs-scheduled math. "How do I tell if my dev environment is running over the weekend?" became a Cost Explorer walkthrough.
What you'll find here
- Scheduling — when start/stop pays off, when it doesn't, what to schedule first.
- Cost management — reading your Outscale invoice, finding cost drivers, multi-account FinOps.
- FinOps — the operating model, not just the buzzword. Hands-on patterns.
- Getting started — practical onboarding playbooks for new Outscale users.
How we approach this
No fluff, no consultancy disclaimers, no "schedule a call" pop-ups. Just the math, the reasoning, and what we'd do in your position. If something's wrong or unclear, email us — we'd rather fix it than let the next reader hit the same wall.
